The White House has not yet chosen its nominee to replace former Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman told reporters Tuesday, according to CQ. He said another name – not yet reported by the media – has been mentioned in recent days.
“I mean, Mattis was my hero, and I haven’t seen anyone that’s come along who in my opinion is as good as Mattis in that role,” Inhofe said, according to CQ.
Patrick Shanahan has been acting secretary since Mattis left at the end of the year.
