Starting this spring, The Department of the Air Force will now assess state policies for career licensing and public education as part of their strategic basing process, the service recently announced.
The Air Force reported that access to adequate public education and the ability for their spouses to change careers to a new location are significant factors for retention of active duty service members.
“The communities where service members live and work impact readiness, retention and the satisfaction of families,” said Secretary of the Air Force Barbara M. Barrett. “Future basing decisions made with a consistent framework will ensure optimal conditions for service members and their families.”
