A recent letter to Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense Pete Visclosky and ranking member Ken Calvert advised the lawmakers to fund $100 million to the Defense Community Infrastructure Program (DCIP).
Administered by the Office of Economic Adjustment, Congress created DCIP in 2018 to provide federal grant assistance to local and state governments to address infrastructure deficiencies for communities in proximity to military installations.
“By investing in infrastructure, this program will make our communities safer while enhancing readiness and resilience. DCIP has the potential to support water, wastewater, telecommunications, electric, gas, or other utility projects associated with defense installations,” said the letter.
