March 5, 2020

At a recent House Committee on Armed Service budget request meeting for the Department of Air Force, Secretary of the Air Force Barbara Barrett discussed the upcoming basing decision for US Space Force Command (SPACECOM).

“As we redesign the system, we are going to reopen the process and put forward criteria in detail, and invite all who think they have a good shot at it to come and represent their communities,” said Barrett. She further said that the final announcement for basing will be made this spring.

According to a recent Air Force Magazine article, locations that have been in discussion include Buckley, Peterson, and Schriever Air Force Bases in Colorado, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Colo., the Army’s Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
