Lawmakers Want Answers from DOD on Families Stuck in PCS Limbo

May 4, 2020

More than two dozen House and Senate Democrats are urging DOD to do more to help service members who are stuck mid-move as the department’s stop move order disrupted most permanent change of station moves, leaving many families with double housing bills.

“Clearly, that is an unfair financial burden to place on a military family, especially as the situation is not their fault and they were moving at the direction of the military service,” 27 lawmakers wrote in a May 1 letter to Defense Secretary Mark Esper.

They asked DOD to provide a number of service members and DOD civilian employees who are being impacted by the stop move order, along with information on when and how the moves will continue.
