Housing Provider Says Families Are Key to Supporting DOD Sustainability Goals

Solar energy efforts by the nation’s largest provider of privatized military housing have helped it generate 116,000 MWh of solar energy to support the military’s sustainability and renewable energy goals, Hunt Military Communities announced in a press release.

“Supporting the energy efficiency efforts of all military branches by deploying renewable energy and taking steps to measurably reduce energy consumption are important goals for us and for our community members,” said Hunt Military Communities President John Ehle.

The savings help invest in capital improvements and other upgrades, the company said.

“Many of the families in HMC’s communities have actively partnered with us to reduce their energy usage and environmental footprint,” said Julie Strickland, vice president of asset management at Hunt Military Communities.
