Pittsburg County commissioners signed an agreement on Monday which will lead to an $800,000 grant to improve a road leading to McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Oklahoma, McAlester News reports.

The $800,000 grant is only the beginning of funding which is needed, officials estimate the project will require approximately $4 million to complete.

“The financial incentive offered by this program targets jobs creation and retention, together with infrastructure development,” the agreement states.

The agreement is a collaboration between Oklahoma Development Finance Authority and the McAlester National Defense and Industrial Development Authority.
