DOD Lifts Mask Mandate

May 16, 2021

DOD lifted its blanket mask mandate Friday after CDC released its new guidance saying fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks indoors or outdoors in most circumstances.

DOD personnel who had their final vaccine shot more than two weeks ago are now free to go unmasked inside and outside. Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated people must still wear masks.

About 870,000 military personnel were vaccinated as of Friday. DOD has about 348,000 personnel who are partially vaccinated, Defense One noted.
