It isn’t easy to plan for the future of our nation’s security, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Friday, adding that “a new vision” is needed.
“What we need is the right mix of technology, operational concepts and capabilities — all woven together and networked in a way that is so credible, flexible and so formidable that it will give any adversary pause,” he said. “We need to create advantages for us and dilemmas for them.”
The remarks were Austin’s first major policy address since taking office.
“The way that we fight the next major war is going to look very different from the way that we fought the last ones.”
