Navy, Air Force Plan to Keep Staff 50% Remote

May 4, 2021

The Air Force may keep half of its Pentagon workforce employed remotely, even after the pandemic eases, Defense One reported, citing documents it has reviewed.

“Where the opportunity exists, you may consider placing a portion of your workforce on a more permanent telework schedule and reconfiguring your office space into general use hotel suites that telework personnel can use when they need to come into the workplace,” a March Air Force memo said.

A Navy memo issued this week said all Navy facilities will remain at 50% capacity until COVID-19 infection rates in the surrounding community drop to two new cases per 100,000 population for seven days in a row.
