Vandenberg Space Force Base, California is establishing a commercial space launch zone on base, Air Force Magazine reported. “This space is going to help serve the mission… with those smaller rockets launched more frequently,” said Col. Self-driven shuttles are on the roads at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego for a 90-day pilot program, NextGov reported. “Working in conjunction with our partners in the Marine Corps at Miramar, we have created a true testbed for innovation… that will have tremendous impact within the Department of Defense and across the public sector,” said Jennifer Chronis, senior vice president of public sector at Verizon, which is also working with the company Robotic Research.
