Supply Chain Challenges Won’t Delay Army Modernization, McConville Says

October 19, 2021

Disruptions in the global supply chain will not cause the Army to miss any of its modernization deadlines, Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville said last week.

“I think industry has been challenged,” McConville told Defense News at the annual Association of the United States Army conference. “We’ve been talking to our industry partners. They’re certainly very, very concerned about the supply chain. Things are a lot harder with the pandemic, but I’ve been really impressed with how industry is overcoming these challenges, and we’re working very closely to make things happen.”

McConville also echoed remarks from Army Secretary Christine Wormuth that when it comes to modernization versus end strength that the service is simply looking to be the best Army it can be within a tight budget.
