Airports at three current or former military sites have been added to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Military Airport Program, making them eligible for grants to add civilian aviation activity. The airports are Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas; Mobile Downtown Airport at the former Brookley Air Force Base, Alabama; and Salina Regional Airport at the former Schilling Air Force Base, Kansas. “Adding civilian flights to these airports increases their role in fostering economic growth and creating jobs in their communities,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a press release….

Two nonprofits are using government and non-governmental grants to provide child care subsidies for military families and DOD civilians working at Fort Hunter Liggett, California, according to a DOD story. “It’s like hitting the jackpot,” said the director of Hively, one of the nonprofits….

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has warned local residents to limit or eliminate fish caught in five Cape Cod ponds from their diets over PFAS contaminations, The Cape Cod Times reported.
