President Biden signed four bills Tuesday to improve quality of life for veterans and their families. According to CNN and other outlets, The new laws:
- Require that the Government Accountability Office study whether there are racial disparities in the Veterans Affairs benefits and claims processes
- Direct VA to recruit military medical staff to work for federal health care jobs
- Reduce out-of-pocket education costs for surviving spouses and children of veterans
- Address maternal mortality among female veterans
“We have many obligations, but we only have one truly sacred obligation, in my view, and that is prepare those we send into harm’s way, care for their families when they’re gone, and care for them and their families when they’re home,” President Biden said in remarks before signing the new bills into law.
