Navy to Start Removing Sailors Who Refuse Vaccine

December 16, 2021

The Navy is still working with sailors who step up to get the COVID-19 vaccine after the Nov. 15 deadline, but those who continue to refuse will begin to be released from service, the Navy said this week, as Stars and Stripes reported.

“There are sailors who, in spite of our best efforts, continue to steadfastly refuse,” Rear Adm. James Waters, the Navy’s personnel director, told reporters. “Personally, it disheartens me to see any sailors leave because they refuse the vaccine.”

The Air Force discharged 27 airmen, the first service members to be released for vaccine refusal, as On Base reported.
