The federal government is currently operating under a continuing resolution through Friday.
The House passed language last week extending current spending levels through March 18 in hopes of reaching a bipartisan, bicameral deal on spending for fiscal year 2022, which started in October.
The CR got strong, bipartisan support in the House, but some Republican senators are threatening to hold it up over issues such as vaccine mandates, as CNN reported.
Most on Capitol Hill feel the Senate will overcome such objections in the next few days to avoid a government shutdown this weekend.
