New active duty Army recruits can now pick their first post-training assignment, the Army announced, as Stars and Stripes reported.
“The Army understands that having the option to stay closer to home and loved ones is a big deal, and it’s taking steps to make the decision easier on applicants,” said Brig. Gen. John Cushing, deputy commanding general for operations at U.S. Army Recruiting Command.
The “duty station of choice” enlisted program features 5,600 vacancies in 17 career fields at select bases in eight states – Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, New York, Texas and Washington.
