A signing ceremony Wednesday at Fort Meade, Maryland will mark the Army’s 100th intergovernmental support agreement, the service said in a press release.
“From these 100 Army IGSAs, the Department of Defense has achieved over $28 million in savings annually, and over $48 million in cost avoidance,” the release said. “Overall, the Army has seen an average of a 30% cost reduction since implementing IGSAs. Communities have also benefited from these partnerships by reducing their costs through economies of scale.”
The release also said DOD has about 180 IGSAs across the country.
The newest agreement, between Fort Meade and the Howard County Department of Public Works, will “achieve cost savings and increase stormwater service capability” by tapping into the county’s expertise, the Army said.
