Sen. Paul Plans to Hold Ukraine Aid Vote to Last Minute

May 17, 2022

The Senate may not vote on the House-passed Ukraine aid bill until Thursday, which is about when the administration said it needs the additional spending authority to continue providing military, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine to help it defend itself against Russia’s invasion, CQ reported.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said during a visit to that region over the weekend that the Senate could pass the package by Wednesday. But Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has said he plans to force a delay in hopes of getting an inspector general to review how the previously distributed funding is being spent.
