Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisc.) plans to introduce legislation providing health coverage to National Guard members and reservists across the branches.

“The Defense Health Agency is on record agreeing that health care coverage is really a readiness issue for the total force,” Baldwin said during a hearing this week.

About 60,000 National Guard members and 70,000 reservists lack private health coverage, her office said, according to Stars and Stripes.

Reps. Andy Kim (D-N.J.) and Trent Kelly (R-Miss.) have introduced similar legislation in the House.
