The National Security Innovation Network is hosting a virtual summit Aug. 11 for small businesses, startups, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists interested in working with DOD to solve real-world problems with innovation, according to the event’s website, which includes a registration link.
“Attendees will increase their understanding of defense venture development and the opportunity for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) contracts, which provide millions of dollars of non-dilutive funding to early-stage ventures every year and are a key way to expand into the defense market,” the registration site says.
NSIN will also discuss how it identifies startups that can support innovative DOD problem-solving as they emerge from academia and business.
The SBIR and STRR initiatives are set to expire at the end of September, and reauthorization efforts face some opposition in the Senate, as On Base reported.
