Almost 40,000 Army Guard Members Missed Vaccine Deadline

July 1, 2022

Thursday was the deadline for Army National Guard members to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. The final number of vaccinated members is unknown as some vaccine paperwork is still pending, but about 11% had not met the requirement by Monday, DOD said. That’s more than 38,000 Army Guard members.

The Army is expected to announce its next steps Friday, according to Stars and Stripes.

“We’re going to give every soldier every opportunity to get vaccinated and continue their military career,” Lt. Gen. Jon Jensen, director of the Army Guard, said in a statement Thursday. “We’re not giving up on anybody until the separation paperwork is signed and completed.”
