The Army will expand its program to help prepare low-scoring and overweight applicants for enlistment as a way to boost sagging recruitment, Military.com reported.
The Future Soldier Preparatory Course has been popular since it was introduced in August at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said at an event hosted by the Center for a New Security.
“We’ve had really good success in the early part of the program,” Wormuth said. “We’re going to expand the program to other locations. We have more Americans that want to do it than we can accommodate.”
A source told Military.com that the next site for the program’s academic track is Fort Benning, Georgia.
