Military.com: Army Finds Mold in 2,100 Buildings

March 28, 2023

The Army found mold in 2,100 buildings after a service-wide inspection of nearly all its 70,000 facilities, Military.com reported.

“The Army is committed to providing safe, quality housing, barracks and other facilities for our soldiers, families and civilians,” Scott Malcom, a spokesperson for the Army’s Installation Management Command, said. “A critical aspect of this commitment is ensuring all facilities are free of hazardous mold.”

There was more mold at facilities in more humid areas, including Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Stewart, Georgia and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Without funding from Capitol Hill, the Army is limited in how it can respond to the problem, Military.com noted.
