DOD’s “oversight of the privatized family housing program will likely continue to face challenges… in part because DOD cannot unilaterally make changes to projects without the concurrence of the private companies,” according to a new Government Accountability Office report.
The report cited DOD’s challenges in implementing the Tenant Bill of Rights enacted by Congress, as Federal News Network and other outlets reported.
“GAO found that although each of the military departments is conducting… inspections as required, DOD has not developed clear or consistent inspection standards and the military departments have not provided adequate inspector training,” the report says.
