“Thousands of American and foreign troops are spread across the training ranges of Fort Hood [Texas] this month to test their ability to work together and share information to combat a large enemy force,” according to a Stars and Stripes report. Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville observed the training Thursday. “We spent the last 20-plus years doing counterinsurgency, counterterrorism and irregular warfare,” McConville said. “We’re at an inflection point, and we believe the next battle – and that was seen unfold[ing] in Ukraine – is going to be large-scale combat operations.”…

Army Garrison Hawaii broke ground this week on two new child development centers, according to another Stars and Stripes report. The facilities at Schofield Barracks in central Oahu and Aliamanu Military Reservation in Honolulu will accommodate 660 kids when they’re completed by 2026, addressing a long waiting list. “These state-of-the-art facilities are taking a giant leap forward to provide the best possible care and nurturing environment for our keiki, who are the future of our nation,” Garrison Commander Col. Steve McGunegle said.
