The ongoing blockade of hundreds of military promotions “has been very problematic” and will lead to mid-career officers choosing to leave the military, Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said Tuesday, according to Politico.

She mentioned a two-star general who submitted his retirement while awaiting confirmation because of the job’s impact on his family.

“There will be more of those,” Wormuth said.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has blocked hundreds of nominations in protest of DOD’s abortion access policy.

Senate Democrats advanced a measure Tuesday that would temporarily change the Senate rules and allow the nominations to be considered as a group. It’s not clear yet when the Senate will take up that measure and if enough Republicans would help pass it.
