A Navy lieutenant and a university professor and researcher wrote in The San Diego Union-Tribune that the Navy and the San Diego region are uniquely positioned to respond to climate change. “San Diego only stands to benefit from swift action on nature-based strategies that build climate resilience,” Julie Roland and Melissa Ward wrote. “Sustainable aquaculture, coastal habitat restoration and conservation goals act synergistically with economic development opportunities in San Diego and merit the Navy’s support.”…

The city of Boise, Idaho has agreed to extend its broadband network for free so service members and others at Gowen Field Air National Guard Base can access the internet for non-military purposes such as using their personal devices. The Guard had been forced to stop providing the service because of the cost.
