Army Testing New Hiring Model with Job Fair in Texas

April 5, 2024

The Army will host an in-person job fair April 13 in Arlington, Texas as it tests a new approach to fill vacancies in its civilian workforce, Stars and Stripes reported.

“We recognize that most Americans don’t venture far from their hometown during their life, so you’ve got to go where they are,” Roy Wallace, assistant deputy chief of staff for Army G-1, told reporters. “A lot of people like where they live, so offering opportunities where they come from is a key piece of what we’re looking at here.”

Wallace said the job fair could become a template that’s used in other regions as the Army looks to hire thousands of employees as many of its civilian workers retire.
