The Army hosted an environmental impact hearing regarding extending its lease for the Pohakuloa Training Area in Hawaii, Island News reported. While the military sees it as strategically vital, local residents expressed concerns about environmental damage and lack of cleanup plans. The lease is set to expire in 2029….

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced $2.3 million in Defense Infrastructure Grant Program awards to strengthen Florida’s military communities and foster economic growth, according to a press release. Grantees include the Space Coast Economic Development Commission, the city of Cocoa and the city of Jacksonville. Florida has awarded over $23.4 million in grants since 2019 to support military infrastructure and local economies.
