El Paso Mayor Promises Closer Ties to Fort Bliss

El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser visited the Armed Services YMCA at Fort Bliss, Texas to discuss strengthening the city’s relationship with the military community, KFOX4 reported. He met with veterans to address initiatives like the on-site child development center and the Sergeant Major’s Academy career training portal. Leeser emphasized the close ties between Fort Bliss and El Paso – recognized by ADC in 2023 as a Great American Defense Community – highlighting the YMCA’s role in providing transition housing and child services for military families.

Yuma Proving Ground Developing STEM Kits for Schools

Army Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona is encouraging local students to pursue STEM careers, according to an Army story. YPG has partnered with Arizona Western College, the Desert Research Institute and the University of Arizona to develop STEM kits and programs. These kits, including a 3D printing kit for high school sophomores and other items for younger students, are designed to engage students in hands-on STEM activities.
