Nine in 10 Americans Think Highly of Military Families

May 31, 2024

“Americans view military families more favorably than other U.S. institutions… according to a new Blue Star Families/YouGov survey,” Filip Timotija wrote this week in The Hill.

Here’s how several entities performed in the poll, which surveyed 1,500 U.S. adults in early May:

  • Military Families: 90%
  • S. Military: 83%
  • Police: 73%
  • S. Supreme Court: 55%
  • Presidency: 52%
  • News Media: 45%
  • Congress: 36%

But Many Don’t Pitch In

A large majority of respondents said that the country and individuals should do more to support military families, but only one-third said they’ve personally done something in the past year to help a service member or military family, The Hill reported.

“Military families are America’s most trusted institution,” Kathy Roth-Douquet, CEO of Blue Star Families, said. “But there’s a gap between trust and the support our families need, and that presents a real opportunity for us to speak to Americans to have the backs of the military families in their own communities.”
