Elizabeth City Celebrates Being Named 2024 Great American Defense Community

City officials, business leaders and Coast Guard personnel celebrated Elizabeth City’s designation as a Great American Defense Community, highlighting the city’s partnership with the Coast Guard. Mayor Kirk Rivers and Base Elizabeth City Commander Heidi Koski emphasized the mutual benefits, including community integration and local support for Coast Guard personnel. Elizabeth City is one of three locations honored this year by ADC and program sponsor USAA, along with the Black Hills region in South Dakota and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Elizabeth City is the first Coast Guard community to receive the recognition.

Fort Eisenhower Hosts Cyber Security Camp

The Alliance for Fort Eisenhower is hosting the nation’s largest CyberPatriot Camp at the Georgia Cyber Innovation & Training Center, WFXG reported. The camp aims to inspire K-12 students to pursue careers in cybersecurity and STEM fields. An advanced camp takes place this week.
