Hill Leaders to Meet with Zelenskyy Next Week

July 5, 2024

A bipartisan group of top lawmakers will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Wednesday during a NATO summit in D.C., Politico reported.

Among those meeting with Zelenskyy will be Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), House Speaker Mike Johnson (D-La.) and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul (R-Texas).

Zelenskyy said this week that he is seeking assurances that the U.S. will continue to support Ukraine against Russia.

“They can’t plan my life and the life of our people and our children,” he told Bloomberg TV. “We want to understand whether in November we will have the powerful support of the U.S. or will be all alone.”
