New Aircraft Maintenance Facility Breaks Ground in North Carolina

Construction recently began on a new Fleet Readiness Center East complex at North Carolina Global TransPark in Kinston. The site will provide maintenance and repair work for Navy, Marines and Air Force aircraft through 2064, the Navy said. The partnership between the state and FRCE for the development is the first of its kind in the Navy and was facilitated by Salas O’Brien, according to a press release. It will create 400 local jobs.

Georgia Base Replaces Diesel to Save $6 Million a Year

Fort Eisenhower is partnering with Georgia Power to replace its old diesel generation with a new natural gas system. The change, along with energy optimization across the base, looks to reduce carbon emissions significantly by 2026, according to a Southern Company press release. It’s “a huge step toward reducing the installation’s carbon footprint,” Col. Reginald Evans said.

Private Housing Company Pays $10.3 Million in Mold Suit

The family of Sgt. Jason Kiernan was awarded $10.3 million for suffering from mold exposure in a home run by Cavalry Family Housing, a private military housing company in Texas, Military.com reported.
