Washington Guard Unit, NSIN National Guard Host Competition for Emergency Communication Solutions

5G Open Innovation Lab won first place in the Catastrophic Communications Challenge for new life-saving technology, according to a National Security Innovation Network story. NSIN hosted the event in partnership with the Washington National Guard’s Communication Squadron. “The innovation being produced through NSIN… will directly impact our ability to support better and meet the needs of our community during future catastrophic incidents,” said Col. Ryan Price, commander of the 194th Mission Support Group.

University of Georgia Reinvests in Military Communities

The Red and Black reported that the University of Georgia has signed a $100 million regional intergovernmental support agreement with the Army to connect military installations with university services over the next 10 years. The agreement expands on the university’s Defense Community Resilience Program. “This agreement extends UGA’s resources and expertise to strengthen community and economic development in partnership with installations and their surrounding communities,” Jennifer Frum, UGA’s vice president for public service and outreach, said in a press release.
