North Carolina Squadron Reactivated after Two-Year Closure

Marine Corps Times reported that the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 has been reactivated, two years after it had been closed as a part of a restructuring effort. The move brings back an important strategic piece to the East Coast, which was previously without a light attack squadron.

Hawaii Airfield Avoids Closure with New 50-Year Lease

Kawaihapai Airfield, Hawaii has faced the threat of closure since 2020, when the Department of Transportation said it would terminate the lease unless water management issues could be resolved and a new lease could be signed to keep the economic hub open. With agreement from private company Aqua Engineers, state and Army leaders managed to sign a new 50-year lease, according to Honolulu Civil Beat.
