Connecticut Considering OLDCC Grant for Updated Use Plan

The Groton, Connecticut town council will vote soon on whether to apply for an Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation grant to produce an updated compatible use plan. It is “expected to have an increased focus on climate resilience, utility resilience, housing and economic development, and also delve into the health care, education, child care and spousal employment needed so service members are able to perform their job best, The Day reported. Groton would pursue the grant alongside the Southeast Connecticut Council of Governments. Bob Ross, executive director of the Connecticut Office of Military Affairs said the effort grew out an OLDCC visit to the area in January.

Michigan National Guard Visits Overseas State Partner

Members of the Michigan National Guard were recently in Latvia for two weeks to bolster the defense capabilities of the Lielvarde Airfield, according to MilitarySpot.com. Through the State Partnership Program, the Michigan National Guard is able to share techniques with the Latvian base and practice drills that prepare members for official duties. The partners also collaborate to create future training for base operations.
