California Naval Pier Finishes Extensive Modernization Project

Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, California has finished a $157 million renovation that started in 2019. The rework means the pier can service two destroyer-sized ships at once, and it provides a valuable stop along the Pacific coast. “That’s been a game changer, because it’s allowed us a better security posture, better safety, and everything that I have heard from the local boaters is that they like it better, too,” Capt. Jessica O’Brien said in a Daily Pilot article.

Former Illinois Armory Testing Market for Buyers

Rock River Current reported that the city of Rockford, Illinois is looking for buyers for the 88-year-old Illinois National Guard Armory, which has been out of use since 2006. The process began in response to potential buyers expressing interest in the 57,000-square-foot building. City Administrator Todd Cagnoni said nothing is official yet and that they are looking for a buyer who is “an overall benefit to the community.”
