Virginia Restores Funding for Military Families Tuition Program

Virginia state lawmakers voted Thursday to restore funding to the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Program, The Washington Post reported. The program provides tuition waivers for families of disabled veterans and those who die in service. State lawmakers had voted to cut much of its funding as part of a broader budget debate, but the political fallout led them to reverse course.

N.Y. Guard Partners with Sweden

The New York National Guard has entered into a partnership with Sweden through DOD’s State Partnership Program, according to a Guard story. “Our shared values, focus and commitment to the partnership will build relationships and improve capabilities for both our military forces,” New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said. “I look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
