The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider its version of the fiscal year 2025 defense spending bill Aug. 1, along with several other spending bills. The hearing will be livestreamed.
The House has passed several spending bills on the house floor but not the defense bill. After concerns that other funding bills might fail, House Republican leaders started the August recess early, leaving spending discussions for after Labor Day.
The timing further increases the possibility that lawmakers will again rely on a continuing resolution to keep the government open when the fiscal year ends Sept. 30.
