DOD Connects Public with Stories of Hometown Heroes

August 15, 2024

A new Defense Media Agency portal lets the public follow news, stories, videos and photos for service members connected to a specific region.

“The Joint Hometown News Service portal expands upon our current services by providing service members a place for them to share their personal stories and achievements with their friends and family back home,” DOD announced to registered users of DVIDS, its media distribution service.

The Joint Hometown News Service allows community members and service members’ family and friends to sign up for news alerts from a specified hometown location.
