Community Leaders Meet at Fort Johnson for Economic Update
Fort Johnson, Louisiana recently hosted its first-ever Community Leaders Economic Engagement, which saw speakers from the community talk with military leaders. The base shared its economic impacts and areas of focus for the future and heard feedback on those proposals, according to an Army story. “There were a lot of things discussed I didn’t know about,” Brig. Gen. Jason Curl, commander of Fort Johnson, said. “Things we can do for the community and things we need to help each other.”
Washington Joint Base Signs Deal with Communication Technology Company
Joint Base Lewis-McChord signed a 10-year partnership with the Yakima Consortium for Regional Public Safety for Spillman technologies, the Army reported. This communication software allows for the sharing of information between different government agencies, such as law enforcement and military, to improve responses to emergencies. The technology also allows for better community relationships between the base and local authorities.
Capped Army Landfill Now Site of Solar Plant
A former Army depot in Guilderland, New York has been renovated from a landfill to a solar facility, the Altamont Enterprise reported. The plant will provide energy to over 260 houses in the area. Nautilus Solar Energy is the firm that developed the site.
