PFAS Found Near Pennsylvania Depot

PFAS have been detected near Letterkenny Depot, Pennsylvania, according to Franklin County Free Press. Dangerous levels of the chemicals were found after officials tested 88 private wells around the depot. The Army has agreed to work with the EPA and local officials to mitigate public exposure.

South Carolina Works With DOD to Launch Childcare Program

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is partnering with DOD to provide childcare assistance for military families, WYFF reported. Qualifying members who cannot access on-base care will be given financial support to seek alternatives. The plan is available for reservists, active duty members and DOD civilians.

Florida Base Prepares for Climate Change Through Agriculture

A DVIDS story recently looked at how Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida has used strategic agriculture planning to limit damage from water runoff, among other benefits. The base carefully selects what to plant, as the unique environment calls for salt water resistant plants that will survive well in full exposure to sun. The plan hopes to result in better quality water and more resistance to storm surges.
