Next Week: DOD to Brief Defense Communities on Arctic Strategy

The DOD Office of Intergovernmental Affairs will host a webinar on DOD’s 2024 Arctic Strategy on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. Eastern time.

“The webinar will provide state and local leaders with key insights and topline messaging from the Department of Defense’s recently unveiled Arctic Strategy,” DOD said. “State, local, tribal and territorial communities will learn about their role alongside federal partners in strengthening integrated deterrence and increase shared security.”

DOD and the National Guard Bureau will be among the agencies presenting during the session.

Army Stands Up Arctic Aviation Command at Wainwright

The Army this week activated a new aviation command at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Two Alaska-based aviation battalions will now be under the 11th Airborne Division instead of reporting to units in Hawaii and Washington state, as Military Times reported.
