More than 80 organizations and individuals sent a letter last week asking DOD for more information on its PFAS cleanup plans.
The letter’s purpose is “to request a virtual town-hall style briefing and opportunity for PFAS-impacted defense communities to dialogue with you and your team,” according to the signers. It was addressed to Brendan Owens, assistant secretary of defense for energy, installations, and environment.
The signers want DOD to commit to following the Environmental Protection Agency’s stricter new standards on the amount of PFAS allowed in drinking water.
