The Army has surpassed its recruitment goal for this fiscal year, Military.com reported.

The Army enlisted 55,300 new active-duty soldiers, just topping its stated goal of 55,000. It has been falling short in its recruitment targets since 2022.

“In a very tight labor market, our recruiters have been working incredibly hard for more than two years to tell the Army story effectively, and we are seeing the results of their work,” Army Secretary Christine Wormuth said Thursday during a basic training graduation at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

Another factor was new Army programs to help potential recruits who did not initially meet the physical or academic standards.
