Mark Balmert, former president and CEO of the San Diego Military Advisory Council, has died, SDMAC announced in a recent statement. Balmert, a retired Navy Rear Admiral, led SDMAC for six years before retiring earlier this year.

“Under his stewardship, SDMAC strengthened its role as a vital voice in the San Diego region, advocating for the military, defense industries and veterans’ communities while fostering critical partnerships between military, civilian, government and business sectors,” SDMAC said.
