Military Spouse Fellowship Program Seeking More Employers

September 25, 2024

DOD’s Military Spouse Career Accelerator Program (MSCAP) is looking for more employers to connect with military spouses, Military Times reported. The pilot program connects military spouses with employers for a 12-week fellowship period salary paid by DOD through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes program.

Employers are then encouraged to offer the spouse a full-time position, which has happened about 85% of the time, DOD said.

Since MSCAP started in 2022, the number of employers providing fellowships has tripled, but the number of applicants has increased at a similar rate.

“We need to continue to grow the employer host pool,” DOD spokeswoman Jade Fulce said. “The employment offer rate is proof in the value that military spouses bring to an organization and can be a key recruiting tool for employers across industries.”

Employers who are interested in joining the program can learn more here. Military spouses looking to sign up can do so here.
