Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Jack Reed (D-R.I.) said his committee will work with House Republicans in the coming weeks on a compromise version of the National Defense Authorization Act to be ready for consideration soon after the November elections.
“I think there is a consensus to move it as soon as we can after that,” Reed told reporters Monday, according to Military Times.
Among the issues of contention is how much to raise pay for junior enlisted service members.
